Counting the milestones tells the story of the fascinating life and work of Irish author, tramp and ex-prisoner Jim Phelan (1895-1966) who published around 30 books, but today is practically forgotten.

The programme features two original songs inspired by the story of Jim Phelan by singer-songwriter Ralph McTell (Streets of London, From Clare to Here).
