Pat Boran is an Irish poet, writer and broadcaster. Born in Portlaoise in 1963, he lives on the northside of Dublin, not far from Bull Island. He has written and published a long sequence of haiku, all inspired by the island, which he visits almost daily in all weathers, at all times of the year, at all times of day.
This programme takes this sequence of haiku and transforms them into a radio programme that provides rich, evocative listening, transporting the listener in his or her mind to the island to experience 40 minutes of beautiful words and sounds, and learn about its history, people and nature.
Pat Boran’s book ‘Waveforms: Bull Island Haiku’ was published in 2015 by Orange Crate Books. https://www.dedaluspress.com/product/a-man-is-only-as-good/
